The weather this year has been so unbelievably cooperative for us photographers this year. Being a Bakersfield wedding photographer is not always a walk in the park – with half the year being upwards of 90 – 100 degrees, it’s a challenge. However this Spring and Summer, we’ve had amazingly cool days with plenty of rain (but thankfully not on wedding days!). This Spring has yielded such a great crop of weddings. A friend of mine recently said, “how is it that you get only BEAUTIFUL bride and grooms” – I had to laugh, because it’s kind of true. I do think that over the years I’ve gotten to work with the some photogenic couples and this month has been no exception! I’d like to highlight just a few moments from our last few weddings.
Ray and Staci’s wedding was at St. Phillips and then their reception at the Bakersfield Museum of Art. These two came from such an amazing group of family members. Rarely do my eyes tear up as much as they did during their reception, because family is what was most important to these two. Staci’s three sisters were as beautiful as Staci, both on the inside and out. It was a true family event. We were so honored to be a part of their day.
Dustin and Stephanie wed in Shafter at the Mennonite church and had a beautiful front yard reception (you can do front yard receptions in Shafter!) set amongst the almond orchards. We had a lot of fun with this beautiful couple and had some fun backdrops to work with at the Green Hotel and with a really fun vintage blue truck!
Keith and Meghann are the kind of people that you just want to be lifetime friends with. My trusted assistant Erin Cole did the bulk of this wedding and she did an amazing job. There are a few places in Bakersfield that are just a dream for a photographer and two of them were part of Keith and Meghann’s day – the Padre Hotel and the Junior League. Two of my favorite places to photograph in Bakersfield.
Last weekend we got to spend the day with two fun loving athletes – tennis players. Between Stockdale Country Club which is always a dream location and Bakersfield First Assembly, we were able to capture some of the most fun angles at the most perfect time of day for photography. Normally this June wedding would have been sweltering, but there was a nice breeze blowing the entire time we were photographing – made for genuine smiles from all of us!
We have one more wedding this weekend to finish out our June events. It will be awesome too…Richard and Amanda will tie the knot tomorrow at St. Francis and their reception is at one of my personal favorites – Bakersfield Country Club.
One last quick note, I must say that bridal parties make a great day even greater. We have had some of the most fun, creative, spontaneous bridal parties we’ve ever had. It’s always necessary to be trusted by our bride and grooms, but when we have an entire group of people doing whatever we ask – running, jumping, screaming, vogueing (my own word)…well, you just can’t go wrong!
What a great life we have as Bakersfield Wedding photographers!
