Wedding season in full swing

The weather this year has been so unbelievably cooperative for us photographers this year. Being a Bakersfield wedding photographer is not always a walk in the park – with half the year being upwards of 90 – 100 degrees, it’s a challenge. However this Spring and Summer, we’ve had amazingly cool days with plenty of rain (but thankfully not on wedding days!). This Spring has yielded such a great crop of weddings. A friend of mine recently said, “how is it that you get only BEAUTIFUL bride and grooms” – I had to laugh, because it’s kind of true. I do think that over the years I’ve gotten to work with the some photogenic couples and this month has been no exception! I’d like to highlight just a few moments from our last few weddings.

Ray and Staci’s wedding was at St. Phillips and then their reception at the Bakersfield Museum of Art. These two came from such an amazing group of family members. Rarely do my eyes tear up as much as they did during their reception, because family is what was most important to these two. Staci’s three sisters were as beautiful as Staci, both on the inside and out. It was a true family event. We were so honored to be a part of their day.

Dustin and Stephanie wed in Shafter at the Mennonite church and had a beautiful front yard reception (you can do front yard receptions in Shafter!) set amongst the almond orchards. We had a lot of fun with this beautiful couple and had some fun backdrops to work with at the Green Hotel and with a really fun vintage blue truck!

Keith and Meghann are the kind of people that you just want to be lifetime friends with. My trusted assistant Erin Cole did the bulk of this wedding and she did an amazing job. There are a few places in Bakersfield that are just a dream for a photographer and two of them were part of Keith and Meghann’s day – the Padre Hotel and the Junior League.   Two of my favorite places to photograph in Bakersfield.

Last weekend we got to spend the day with two fun loving athletes – tennis players. Between Stockdale Country Club which is always a dream location and Bakersfield First Assembly, we were able to capture some of the most fun angles at the most perfect time of day for photography. Normally this June wedding would have been sweltering, but there was a nice breeze blowing the entire time we were photographing – made for genuine smiles from all of us!

We have one more wedding this weekend to finish out our June events. It will be awesome too…Richard and Amanda will tie the knot tomorrow at St. Francis and their reception is at one of my personal favorites – Bakersfield Country Club.

One last quick note, I must say that bridal parties make a great day even greater. We have had some of the most fun, creative, spontaneous bridal parties we’ve ever had. It’s always necessary to be trusted by our bride and grooms, but when we have an entire group of people doing whatever we ask – running, jumping, screaming, vogueing (my own word)…well, you just can’t go wrong!

What a great life we have as Bakersfield Wedding photographers!

New website launches

We are so excited to announce that we have published our new and improved website. Take some time to navigate through all the new features. One of my favorite pages is our “raves” page, so fun the way it is presented. I’d like to thank my husband who has spent many hours designing and creating this site. He has even created the site so it’s available to view on the iphone – a little tricky… I know that I would not be the photographer I am without him by my side. One special thing we want you to pay attention to is our new promo video. I’d like to give HUGE thanks to Ian and Megan Swanson of Couture Motion. They are a wedding film company located here in Bakersfield. They really went above and beyond in capturing the feel that I wanted from this video. I think their close attention to detail really made this film exactly what we wanted. This creative couple is available for wedding films in Bakersfield and the surrounding areas. Check them out and if you’re looking for that creative storytelling film for your wedding, give them a call! Thanks for checking out our new site!

Padre Hotel Outdoes Itself!

Our wedding this weekend was at St. Francis, but the bridal party all stayed at the Padre Hotel in Bakersfield, so we got to enjoy the amazing details that the recently refurbished Padre has to offer. As a photographer, I could hardly contain the drool dripping out of mouth while my jaw hung open. There were so many things that I loved about this place. The flooring was exquisite, so much that I wanted to photograph everything from the floor’s point of view; the detailed edging on the walls made your eyes trail up to (of course) awesome ceilings full of color and glitz. Each and every room was brightly colored with the most unique lounge chairs ever. I could have photographed here all day and in about 10 different styles of chairs–each of which would make the top prop at any photographer’s studio. Every room for entertaining was very different from the next and yet they all worked together so nicely! The guest rooms were unique and modern and used color in great places. Even the hallways in between the guest rooms were worthy of photographing.

Oh and yes, on to my sweet sweet couple – Mike and Carol…it was so great to spend the day with this special family. 16 years in the making, this couple took a while to get to the altar, although I think they always knew they would. The bridal party mostly consisted of their children – 6 sons! Some of the most handsome boys in Bakersfield! And one beautiful little sister who plays the princess role to perfection.

The rest of the images will be up in a few weeks, but here’s a sneak peak…I’m in love with the Padre!

Our newest Senior Ambassador

Meet Gage Marchini, who will graduate from Highland High School next year. He’s very involved with FFA as well as a big time swimmer and cross country athlete. And, yeah, he’s adorable! I think he kind of looks like Chandler from Friends, but I became aware of how old I truly was when he had no idea who this Chandler guy is! Especially depressing since “Friends” didn’t even start until I was out of college – but I digress…Here’s Gage! Let me know if you know a current Junior who might be interested in being a Senior Ambassador for Misty Dameron Photography this next year.

Calling all Seniors!

We’re looking for Ambassadors for our Senior Portraits program.  There are lots of incentive to join!  Give us a call.
